Edwards Elementary School

715 E 8th St, Newberg, OR

After nearly 35 years in operation, Newberg's Edwards Elementary School was beginning to show it's age. While still maintaining most of the original structure, a cost-effective, less invasive approach to upgrade the facility was put into place. An entire signage package was designed to improve the student experience, both inside and out. Wayfinding signage eliminates confusion, experimental displays create warmth and creativity throughout the building, and the main entry sets a welcoming tone towards parents and students alike.

The renovated establishment has incorporated several resources to support the Hispanic and Latino families, including bilingual staff and signage, as well as an expanded space for the community to come together. Serving as the only school located on the south side of Newberg, Edwards is positioned to act as a gathering point and shelter for local residents should a crisis arise.
