The City of Mt. Vernon
Mt. Vernon Library Commons

208 W Kincaid St, Mount Vernon, WA

Located in the historic downtown Mount Vernon, the new library and commons project serves as a one-stop destination for various community needs. This centralized facility houses a public library, community center, commercial kitchen, public restrooms, park and ride, and transit stop - features eagerly anticipated by both locals and visitors. The new construction also includes a structured parking garage with the largest public electric vehicle charging center in the United States.

This vital community hub expands its role in supporting local residents by offering a gathering place for seniors, an early learning center, access to digital skills and employee training, and resources for new businesses. Additionally, the building is the first ever verticle structure to meet the Department of Transportation standards for structural steel and reduces energy use by 80%, according to industry standards.
